Fresh sake is the best way to kick off the begining of spring!
Takayama is currently hosting the annual Sake Brewery Tour. We have 6 Sake breweries in the city and each one shows off their sacred Sake making rooms.
I had a chance to visit Niki Sake brewery this year 🙂 They produce sake with great quality, made of highly polished rice. Often locals’ favorite!
It was a snowy day so perfect for warming up my body with delicious alcohol!
They offer free tour of sake making process and the uniqueness of the brewery. Niki was established almost 300 years ago, meaning that samurai must have enjoyed the same flavor!?
This is where the magic happens!
After you got fermented Sake, it is transferred to this huge pressor to divide Sake and leftover(Sake-kasu).
At the end of tour, a cup of their proud Sake is served for free! Once you learned a lot about sake making, you will embrace the flavor more 😉
It was clear and a bit dry Sake! Loved it 🙂
And, look at what I found at the shop!!
There is a cute sake cup with lots of hearts designed at the bottom of it 😀 There was no way I would leave the brewery without it!
The event is still on until March 2nd! You don’t want to miss the opportunity if you are here in Takayama!!!
